Timor-Leste, or East Timor, is the youngest country in the Asia-Pacific. It is a beautiful, vivid place that has made leaps and bounds towards a range of development goals – but it remains one of the poorest countries in our region.
People with disabilities face particular challenges in Timor. A generation of powerful advocates is working to level the playing field, and disability is increasingly seen as a priority across all development sectors. Nevertheless, a range of social, environmental and attitudinal barriers still prevent the full enjoyment of many people’s basic human rights.
Naroman ba Futuru is helping to break down these barriers to inclusion. We’re working for equal opportunities, respect for human rights, and ultimately, a better world.
